TURBO 135 - NAUTILUSS - HABITAT
Available November 5, 2012
With his second EP for Turbo Recordings, Nautiluss pushes against the darker edges of house and techno, forging a sound that has earned support from supreme tastemakers like Martyn, Untold, Gesaffelstein, and Ivan Smagghe.
A-side "Depth Charge" combines sub-heavy bass, gritty metallic hi-hats, and cool sonar bleeps to create a unique atmospheric bomb - the perfect soundtrack for dancing your way to the bottom of the ocean. "Surfeit" starts with a low-end thud that sounds like an entire warehouse caving in on your head, with cold synth hooks adding a layer of moody intensity. "Sunder" gradually builds into a barely reined-in house monster, complete with demonic vocal stabs and hypnotic pads. Finally, "Stygian" is a mid-tempo electro gem built just funky enough to hold down the coveted B2 slot.
Midland:
"This is a dope ep. Have been playing Surfeit a lot!"
Christian Martin:
"Surfeit is the banger for me, but I'll be playing all of them at some point!!"
Ewan Pearson:
"I love Stygian - the best stuff is always in the B2 slot...."
Djedjotronic:
"Nice atmosphere. Love this!"
Shadow Dancer:
"Nautiluss is one the best producers around at the moment. This doesn't disappoint. Genuinely interesting, original, exciting electronic music. 'Sunder' pushes all my Chicago-influenced stalker-house buttons in exactly the right sequence. Top."
Groove Armada:
"this is great, a tad more dancefloor than the last nauitlus release but just as excellently odd. i'm in."
Stephan Bodzin:
"bomb release. ;-)"
Tomboy:
"love the whole ep"
Sei A:
"Been looking forward to this EP and it's made all expectations. Top stuff"
Norman Nodge:
"Sounds good, will play and listen on big p.a.´s"
